Vernona was someone I respected a great deal for her sensitivity to others, her loyalty to family, and her ability to light up a room with her positive energy.   After graduation, our paths went different ways, but I was drawn back into her life when I met her Mother, Eleanor, after her Father died.   I had started a service to help widows and widowers deal with their grief, and Eleanor partiicpated in that service.   Our paths crossed again when I was a Counselor at AHS and met Vernona's younger sister, Vivian.   Through the years we talked about her family, and Vernona was a very caring and devoted daughter and sister.

The last time we communicated was toward the end of last year when we had been emailing about her treatment, and she asked me to send her a copy of the Jewish prayer of healing.  I was glad to do it as she had such great respect for all beliefs and was always curious about things.  In December, I sent her tea cozy to keep her herbal tea hot.   She was feeling better and sent a lovely thank you note back.   She was planning to have Nancy Colson and I over to visit this spring, and Nancy and talked of it.

I shall always have fond memories of Vernona and grateful that she was in my life,  She will be missed by many.  I send my sympathies to Marv and hope that you are able to take some solace in the fact that Vernona was loved and respected by her Class of 60 classmates.

Thanks for caring, Vernona, when others didn't always seem to.  You and your family were very meaningful to me, and helped me through those crazy teen years, for which I will always be very grateful..  We'll meet again, my friend, and share the good times!

My sincere sympathy to Marvin and family.
