Obituary

Robert Donald Morrow of Bainbridge Island, born to Don and Alice 8/11/42, passed peacefully at home on 9/5/23. His years of living with cancer centered on the loves of his life Catherine, married 52 years, children Elizabeth, Rebecca, Dan, and Jane, and granddaughter Vivian. So many humans and at least one crow brought their own strengths and skills to make it a supportive, gentle, and loving time. We are deeply grateful for hospice care from Dana and longtime friend Nellie.  Because of the hospice team, Andy, Matthew, Carley, Father Mark, so many others in the Bainbridge community, Angel, and our family and friends, Bob knew how well loved he was.

Bob paid forward the mentoring he received from Martin Yourglich, who inspired a love of cars and oval track racing. Doris Duyff, who helped him become a better teacher as he began his career at Central Kitsap Junior High School. Harry Guay, whose ethical, student-centered leadership Bob was happy to emulate. And Bob Gordon, who encouraged and guided Bob's development of his own administrative style at Ridgetop, Olympic, and Central Kitsap.

Bob took these lessons into retirement, getting back in the classroom with new teachers from the University of Montana, Central Washington, Washington State, and Western Washington Universities, followed by helping young readers at Suquamish Elementary. His passion for cars took him to the LeMay Car Museum. He also volunteered with the Museum of History and Industry, Catholic Community Services, and—best of all—with Vivian at the Pike Place Market Food Bank.

Bob’s life was filled with all that he loved. His family, the Morrows, McKays, Olsons, and Sullivans. Travel with his wife Catherine. Reading, listening to baseball, and enjoying cars and the cheerful nuts who work on them.  He loved morning coffee at Manitou beach looking at the Seattle skyline and happy hour on the porch in Port Madison. We will picture him in blue jeans,

cowboy boots, a racing tee under one of a vast collection of sweaters given by his children. Buddy Holly on the radio, left arm out the window of his '47 Ford.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Cecilia’s at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bob would like you to sit somewhere with a good view, visiting with those you love.

Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
